Call For ‘Shiny Demonstration’ In Counter-Protests Against Nationwide Mass Demonstration Of The Right

We at District Berlin support the die Vielen’s call for ‘Shiny Demonstration’ on May 27, 2018:

On May 27, 2018, 11 am Berlin (Meeting point: Park am Weinberg)

For May 27, the AFD and many other right-wing/extremist groups are calling for a nationwide demonstration in Berlin. It might turn out to be the largest right-wing protest since the end of WWII. This is a provocation for those of us who are campaigning for an open society and working against racist, anti-Semitic and other discriminatory positions. DIE VIELEN (THE MANY) cannot let this happen without resistance.

DIE VIELEN is an association of artists, ensembles and actors in the performing arts. Making theatre and art means working for a society that is composed of people of all ethnicities, gender variations, many sexual orientations, people with different needs and abilities, believers and non-believers, and is grounded in their equal chances and rights.

Right-wing parties or movements are not an alternative. Their vision of “society” excludes many of us. We will not allow a split in this society. No stage for the AFD and other right-wing groups – not on our streets and not in the theaters! So let’s raise our polyphonic voices, wherever right-wing extremists like ‘the Identitären’ or other Nazis show up, and take public attention from them.

For this reason, on the 27th of May, along with numerous anti-fascist and democratic initiatives, we take to the streets and call for a common shining bloc of the arts within these counter-protests. We invite all colleagues from the arts and all those who want to work for a strong democracy, for a diverse society and solidarity, to accompany us, and to support and spread this call.

The AFD tries to claim the streets of Berlin with other right-wing extremists and neo-Nazi groups – We will stand against it! We stand up for a society that does not isolate itself.

Come to the meeting point, the Demonstration will start at 12 o’clock. There we will form a communal shiny bloc. Our demo utensils and costumes will shine against them. So get dressed in gold, bring shiny flags or golden rescue blankets. Let us light a beacon of solidarity, living diversity, and a brilliant life for all!

AGAINST NAZIS GLAMOR!
